Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is testifying today at an inquiry about his use of the Emergency Act to quell the Freedom Convoy and other Covid mandate protests that were in place in that country:
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada will appear at an inquiry on Friday to testify about his decision in February to invoke Canada’s Emergencies Act for the first time in the nation’s history, after a convoy of truckers protesting Covid vaccine mandates blockaded and paralyzed the streets of downtown Ottawa, the capital.
Mr. Trudeau’s appearance will close six weeks of testimony in the public inquiry, a mandatory investigation when the Emergencies Act is invoked.
To some Canadians, invoking the act was an overreach and an abuse of the government’s powers. For others, it was an overdue measure to end a protest that had shut down Ottawa, left residents feeling threatened and disrupted billions of dollars in trade.
The UK Daily Mail is reporting that Trudeau was so adamant about shutting down the trucker protest in part because President Biden was twisting his arm:
President Joe Biden demanded Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stop the ‘freedom convoy’ that protested at the US-Canada border against vaccine mandates, right before Trudeau invoked emergency powers to end it.
Trudeau is set to testify in Ottawa on Friday regarding his decision to clear out the convoy as part of the Canadian government’s investigation into the PM using those powers.
The trucker protest grew until it closed vital trade routes along the Canada-U.S. border and shut down key parts of the capital for more than three weeks. But all border blockades were ended on February 14.
That brings me to Trudeau’s testimony today, and it will no double make the pro-lockdown lefties proud. Canada’s PM really let his wannabe dictator flag fly with these comments about protesting. This “your freedoms are great BUT…” moment sure sounds familiar:

Gee, where was that kind of talk during the protests & riots after George Floyd’s death where many on the Left were calling for the defunding of police and other changes to public policy? Instead, Trudeau offered his support. He also didn’t think protests in the U.S. after the Supreme Court’s decision on Roe v. Wade were “worrisome,” but rather it was the new public policy that was troubling.

Trudeau is just the worst — a tyrant who pretends to be pro-freedom as long as his conditions are met. He’d get along great with AOC, who believes the point in protesting is to make people uncomfortable unless the protest is against something the Left embraces — then it’s dangerous and a “threat to democracy.”
