Media going all-out to let us know Sen. Manchin might have condemned the world to a fiery demise

Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia has thrown a wrench into the rest of President Biden’s “Build Back Better” spend-a-palooza dreams, as he won’t back a bill with trillions in new spending, ostensibly in the name of addressing climate change. Manchin not going along means the media is helping others on the Left to try and convince as many people as possible that he’s condemned the world to a fiery demise.

A New York Times “climate reporter” took a big swing for the “we’re doomed” fences:

There’s reporting, and then there’s whatever this is:

As millions of people on three continents baked in heat waves supercharged by climate change this week, one American politician, an ardent champion of the fossil fuel industry, doused any hopes of immediate climate action in Washington.

That politician is Senator Joe Manchin III of West Virginia, a state of 1.8 million people. As my colleagues Emily Cochrane and Lisa Friedman reported late Thursday evening from Washington, Manchin said he would not support his fellow Democrats’ proposals to fund climate or energy programs. Party leaders had been negotiating with Manchin for the better part of 18 months. They had steadily whittled down their climate ambitions in order to win his support. He still didn’t agree.

It follows a Supreme Court decision that curbed the federal government’s authority to tackle emissions from power plants.

Not to be outdone, NBC News passed along quotes from Democrats saying “we’re all going to die!”

Nice try, but we’ve already died a few times:

The “do what Democrats leadership wants or everybody’s going to die” card has been played to… well, death.

That’s definitely a better alternate headline.

Another New York Times story quoted former Obama adviser John Podesta in the third paragraph of a lengthy story about “how one senator doomed the Democrats’ climate plan” (it’s actually 51 senators doing that):

This is something else:

“It seems odd that Manchin would choose as his legacy to be the one man who single-handedly doomed humanity,” said John Podesta, a former senior counselor to President Barack Obama and founder of the Center for American Progress, a left-leaning think tank.

“Single-handedly doomed humanity”? Please. In spite of all the climate change agenda failure, we’re guessing Podesta’s former boss won’t be selling his oceanside Martha’s Vineyard home any time soon.
