Senator Chuck Schumer is pushing hard for a bill on “voting rights” to get passed by the Senate, and of course he’s using 1/6 to justify the effort:
Let me be clear: January 6th was a symptom of a broader illness, an effort to delegitimize our election process, and the Senate must advance systemic reforms to repair our democracy or else the events of that day will not be an aberration—they will be the new norm.

GOP Sen. Tom Cotton outlined what the Dems’ “voting rights bill” is actually about:
When Chuck Schumer says we need to abolish the filibuster to pass "voting rights," he's talking about a bill to mandate ballot harvesting, ban voter ID, and give taxpayer funding to campaigns.
This has nothing to do with voting rights. It's a Democratic power grab.

Yep, and Schumer is considering going for a Senate rule change in order to make that happen as we head toward a midterm election that’s expected to cost Democrats control of the House and possibly the Senate:
NEWS: Very, very interesting letter from @SenSchumer. He is leaning into changing the Senate rules MUCH more than before. this is as far as Schumer has gone.
He says they will consider a rules change by Jan. 17. pic.twitter.com/WImiqXcYbo

Here’s the full letter from Schumer https://t.co/y3x3LRNm4x
With the caveat that he does not, at the moment, have the votes to change the rules.

It might not go anywhere, but the Democrats pretending that there are people legally allowed to cast a ballot being denied the right to do so speaks desperate volumes:
Schumer knows the base is furious they haven’t accomplished key priorities and it’s a midterm year — expect these Hail Mary panders to the far-left to just get worse and worse. https://t.co/gScJ8a1T6S

Does he have any idea how incredibly weak he'll look if he loses a floor vote on this?

And that might happen.

Schumer’s definition of “saving democracy” is giving Democrats federal control over state elections.
