Rep. Eric Swalwell has presented a sweeping proposal for gun control in the U.S. which includes mandatory buybacks (confiscation in other words) under penalty of prison. Oh, and we also hear that the Dem congressman from California is running for president, though that’s tough to spot in the current polling. Rep. Swalwell is of course opposed by the NRA and other 2nd Amendment supporters, and this is what he wants everybody to believe is the reason:
They (the NRA) hate me because they know I’m not the bogeyman they want … I feel comfortable shooting guns. I do shoot guns. I think that they want the person who is proposing tougher gun laws to be someone who’s never handled a gun before.https://t.co/EdLpxAVt6V

No, that’s not it at all really:
I think that they want the person who is proposing tougher gun laws to be someone who understands the meaning of #ShallNotBeInfringed

Er, yeah, that would be nice.
The only thing anyone needs to know about someone trying to take our civil rights from us is that they're trying to take our civil rights from us.
And the only thing that person needs to know is that we're not going to allow it. https://t.co/QiRqAtEeJG

No, actually they just want you to defend the Constitution of the United States and the Second Amendment, which you took an oath to do. If you are unable, or unwilling to do that, then resign and you are are unfit to serve as President!

Perhaps the congressman confuses getting confronted with constitutional concerns and facts for “hate.” Speaking of which:
?And perhaps not threaten to nuke their fellow citizens…or toss political opponents into jail…or be a dweeb…or a lame milquetoast…or… https://t.co/6q0MMhYJ18

Maybe Swalwell would rather be feared, and that’s not happening either.
No one hates you, buddy.
They'd have to take you seriously first. https://t.co/YU5UAXUKOz

Hate is a subset emotion of the 2 core emotions: Love and Fear.
We do not fear you, Eric. We are protected by our Constitution.
Any proposed ban of semi-automatic firearms discriminates against those with fragile bones. Are you backing discrimination? Yes. Yes, you are. https://t.co/EsjNL2bPex— Sandy (@RightGlockMom) May 6, 2019
Nah. We just much prefer someone who has handled an IQ before. https://t.co/pJaTH97JqB
