On Bill Maher’s “Real Time,” former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm was thrilled with the first half of Maher’s statement about social media platforms banning Alex Jones, but no applause could be heard coming from Granholm during the second part, for good reason:

Maher said “if you’re a liberal you’re supposed to be for free speech,” but based on current examples many liberals only take that to mean speech they agree with.
Agreed. I'm no fan of Maher, but I would never ask for him to be deplatformed over things he says that I disagree with. Events like the banning of Alex Jones expose where people actually stand on the principles of free speech. In 2018, the internet is the public square.
