“Pod Save America” co-host and former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau tried to point out the popular appeal of the Democratic Party by making these points:
There is absolutely no evidence that Democrats are a minority in this country. We’ve won the popular vote in 6 of the last 7 presidential elections, and lead in party registration. Also, most of the party’s policy positions command majority support in poll after poll. https://t.co/3XwJYsbJdU

Favreau’s tweet whipped up plenty of support among The Resistance, but to paraphrase Bill Clinton, it depends on what your definition of “no evidence” is:
Other than the 1,000+ Dem seats lost during Obama's 8 yrs, you're nailing it.

There's absolutely no evidence that Democrats are a minority in this country? Let's try this. Democrats don't hold the White House, Senate, House, or a majority of (1) governor's mansions, (2) state senates or (3) state houses. 1/x https://t.co/DrYDyvoHKI

Pretty sure there’s some evidence https://t.co/9poKsr5hja

Under President Obama, Democrats have lost 900+ state legislature seats, 12 governors, 69 House seats, 13 Senate seats. That's some legacy.

The reality is that the “popular vote” isn’t a thing in a presidential election, and the number of people registered or identifying with any particular party isn’t the contest in any election.
This thread is a good read if you’re looking to find a lot of people who are clueless about the Constitution. https://t.co/MtraR5lcHO

If Dems like Favreau want to try and amend the Constitution they’re free to try, but they might be disappointed by what that would entail.
