Many Democrats have recently called for Immigration & Customs Enforcement to be abolished. A vote in the U.S. House of Representatives on a non-binding resolution showing support for ICE, law enforcement and the military gave Democrats a chance to show they’re against the agency en masse, and instead, most voted “present” instead of yes or no:
133 Democrats refuse to vote “yes” or “no” on a motion supporting ICE, for fear of alianting their base. Instead, they voted “present.” 34 progressives vote no (they want to abolish ICE) and 18 more pragmatic minded Ds voted “yes.”
