The Democrats are riding into the 2018 midterm elections on hopes for a “blue wave” which would culminate in a Dem takeover of Congress. They might not want to get too overconfident, however:

After a generous amount of Trump-bashing, this analysis brings with it bad news for Democrats:
In other words, even with all of the turmoil around Trump, there is no cavalry coming to rescue blue America from Republican dominance of Washington. Democrats will need to storm those gates themselves, beginning with finding ways to overcome the resurfacing obstacles that have hurt them so badly in midterm elections before.
It’s almost like their trashing of tax cut “crumbs” and blaming a rights organization and its millions of members for shootings they had nothing to do with is destined to backfire.
