Democrat Rep. Ted Lieu was quite excited about the generic ballot last December pointing to a Dem “megatsunami” in the November midterms. But things have changed, as has Lieu’s opinion of generic ballot polls:

Ha! One more time for posterity: Here’s Lieu in December of 2017 when the Democrats were convinced a “blue wave” was less than a year from crashing down upon the congressional GOP:

But now that a Dem “megatsunami” seems very unlikely, the generic ballot isn’t as helpful for Dems, and instead we see this pivot from Lieu yesterday:
In the Kentucky House primary in the 6th CD tonight, there were 100,418 Democrats who voted and only 48,373 Republicans. Do folks still think the national generic ballot means anything? Does Ted Lieu realize the Republican candidate in KY6 ran unopposed and there was a contested primary with lots of money spent on Democratic side? Also GOP won 202,000 votes in 2016 during general vs. 128,000 for Democrat.
