With a government shutdown looming, Director of the Office of Management and Budget Mick Mulvaney took some questions at a White House press conference this morning. Among those with questions was CNN’s Jim Acosta, who presented the Democrat argument that it’s inaccurate for the GOP to refer to it as a “Schumer shutdown” since the GOP controls all three branches:
Mulvaney at top of briefing calls it the “Schumer shutdown…”

"How can it be the Schumer shutdown when Republicans control the White House, the House and the Senate?" @Acosta asks

Really?
Oh wow. @Acosta just embarrassed himself with his “but GOP controls the WH …” question. He doesn’t realize you need 60 votes to pass CR? GOP do not have 60? Mercy.

Mulvaney shut down Acosta quickly and embarrassingly:

OOF.

Mulvaney scolds Acosta for suggesting that a simple GOP majority can prevent a shutdown – “You know we need 60 votes in the Senate” #SchumerShutdown

We just found out another fact about Jim Acosta. He's bad at math. Repub's 51 + Dems 0 does not equal 60 votes needed to keep Gov running. Hence, it's the "Schumer Shutdown".

Truly embarrassing.
Isn’t there a basic civics education required for the WH Press Corp?

The last time President Trump told Acosta to get “out,” CNN’s chief WH drama queen said he didn’t even recognize America anymore.
