A complete lie about Trump not attending church yesterday gets 31K+ retweets with no retraction/correction. Where's the fact-check outrage? https://t.co/01XF4IfTwI

Here’s a tweet that got a LOT of notice yesterday:
The Obama's spent every Easter attending church service. Trump hasn't attended church once since his inauguration. Where's the GOP outrage? pic.twitter.com/5zOBO616LM
— Matt McDermott (@mattmfm) April 16, 2017
Over 31k retweets and counting, but there’s just one problem with the tweet: It’s not true:
https://twitter.com/KFILE/status/853746470062878720
President Trump has arrived at Bethesda-by-the-Sea church in Palm Beach for Easter services. He last went to church on Inauguration Day.
— Jennifer Epstein (@jeneps) April 16, 2017
Sun-Sentinel photographer staked out near the church got the president and first lady entering church earlier pic.twitter.com/MbH8grGPRI

Which means that viral untruth qualifies for the “fake news” hall of fame:
Trump went to church this morning, not that truth matters to progressives… https://t.co/ZHOkYblPai

Why is this tweet still up, @mattmfm? 30K RTs, 60K likes — all for a blatant lie. Literal definition of #FakeNews https://t.co/XQbbbVgNtU pic.twitter.com/mN5Ivhec58

.@realDonaldTrump attended services in Palm Beach
When will you retract this lie? https://t.co/FHDLNgta7x
— Jim Hanson (@JimHansonDC) April 17, 2017
It's okay to lie as long as you really hate Republicans. https://t.co/ccV7wDvyLX

This is false, and by now you know that. https://t.co/WGUSMNn51C

McDermott provided a reason his tweet was in accurate, and guess who was to blame:
Eh, the hypocrisy still stands: we had people who spent 8 years calling the president a Muslim, now holding up Trump as "a true Christian."

It wasn't factually inaccurate when it was posted, nor (unless I totally missed it) was it on WH schedule this AM where it should've been!
— Matt McDermott (@mattmfm) April 16, 2017
It is in that this WH has chronically chosen shadows for transparency. There's no reason for things like this not to be on public schedule.

Standing by a lie because it feels right to you… Isn't this #fakenews. Wtf. Have some integrity. Stop contributing to the problem. https://t.co/l4THzSSHKE
