At the House Intelligence Committee hearing today revolving around allegations of Russian interference in the U.S. election process, FBI Director James Comey noted that Russia didn’t appear to be doing much to keep their actions quiet:
Comey says Russians hacked with "loudness" — as if they wanted to be discovered so US would publicize it

Why would Russia be “noisy” about it? Comey speculated:
#Comey: One reason for this may have been that they enjoyed watching "freaking people out" https://t.co/tBADVuGMnO

Ros-Lehtinen: Why was Russia so loud?
Comey: Maybe they wanted us to freak out and scare the public.— Eric Geller (@ericgeller) March 20, 2017
If true, why would they want to do that? Speculate away!

Right. Because their goal wasn't "Trump in the White House."
It was "damage whoever happens to be in the White House." https://t.co/Xk7oxH6eoT

Russia wasn't pushing for one candidate.
Russia wanted to make the US look bad and have the US help make itself look bad.
It worked.
