The WH Press Corps and other journos have dutifully fixated on Rudy Giuliani’s recent comment that President Obama does not “love” America, and we can count National Journal’s Ron Fournier among those coming to the defense of Obama, with an added twist:
Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama vowed to transform America. Because of their love for it.
— Ron Fournier (@ron_fournier) February 21, 2015
For real?
@ron_fournier Ridiculous. Reagan wanted to restore America. Obama wanted to transform it. You don't transform something you love.

.@ron_fournier I'm sure Obama's love for America allowed him to bravely stay silent for 20 years of this https://t.co/fThtR6GtKS

@ron_fournier If ur wife said, "I love you. But I've always wanted you to wear a toupee & stop saying "ya know," think you'd feel the love?
— David Rowe (@dvdrowe) February 21, 2015
.@ron_fournier And we know 2008 was the first time in the First Lady's adult life that she was proud of America https://t.co/qcyIXOS97h

@JimDAnchower @ron_fournier Reagan also made us feel great about being American!.. He "restored" that feeling!!

@ron_fournier @JimDAnchower Yeah i remember all the times Reagan was badmouthing and apologizing for America. Good times

Fournier justified his statement:
.@JimDAnchower Reagan transformed. Lincoln transformed. TR transformed. Jesus Christ transformed. Go on?
— Ron Fournier (@ron_fournier) February 21, 2015
To paraphrase Bill Clinton, it depends on what your definition of “transform” is:

@Thomasismyuncle @ron_fournier He doesn't seem to understand the difference between what Reagan did and what Obama wants to do.
— Mike Dury (@MikeDury) February 21, 2015
.@MikeDury @Thomasismyuncle You don't seem to understand that 2 ppl can hold absolutely contrary POVs and still be good people/patriots
— Ron Fournier (@ron_fournier) February 21, 2015
@ron_fournier Ya think Obama believes in the key principles of the American experiment, liberty & limited government? Yeah me neither.
— Sympathy, Empathy, Dignity. (@liberrocky) February 21, 2015
.@liberrocky If you're saying he's a bad president, that is fair debate. If you're saying he's a bad American, that's a horrible accusation
