This emotional scene with Pres. Obama and the Bergdahl parents will quickly turn back to the question of the detainee security in Qatar.

President Obama spoke this evening about the deal he agreed to which released five Taliban leaders from Gitmo in return for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who had been held in Afghanistan since 2009.

Addressing deep concerns about the released Taliban leaders, Obama said Qatar, where the five are supposed to remain for at least one year, has promised to keep an eye on them:
Obama says Qatar has committed to putting in safeguards while they hold the 5 fmr Gitmo detainees.

Obama: 5 Taliban will go to Qatar. 'The Qatari govt has given us assurances it will put in place measures to protect our national security.'

Qatar has given assurances they’ll protect U.S. national security? That failed to provide a lot of comfort:
@ByronYork Ohhhh…I feel better! Like Duuuude…Qatar has our back.

@ByronYork sometime in the near future some innocent Americans are going to die because of this "deal"

@ByronYork glad the guy is home. worried we have to rely on Qatar to guarantee our national security.

Reminder: Even if Qatar keeps the five who have been called “among the most dangerous” at Gitmo under close watch, they will most likely only be required to stay there for one year.
Qatar assured US 5 freed Taliban detainees won't pose threat: minimum 1 year travel ban, prevents them leaving Qatar. http://t.co/EiRYWJT7ul
