Bette Midler: Republicans 'did everything they could' to ensure an allied loss in World War II, or something

Did you know that the Republicans tried to make sure the United States and its allies lost World War II? That’s Bette Midler’s ridiculous take in an uncharacteristically hawkish pro-war tweet, and not everybody agrees with her:

Also, didn’t a U.S. Army five-star general who helped win that war later become a U.S. president as a Republican? We’re asking for a friend.

Midler has returned to a favorite argument of some on the Left that if you oppose President Obama’s agenda, you’re against America. Midler doesn’t seem to apply that same “logic” when a Republican is president, however.
