Crazy like a Fox? Mag reports outgoing LA Mayor Villaraigosa getting really desperate for work

Villaraigosa, as you might recall, was a co-chair of the 2012 Democratic Convention, where he gave an impassioned plea for voters to re-elect Barack Obama. But now times are tough in this economy he lobbied to maintain. How desperate might Villaraigosa be for a job?

Via Breitbart:

In a comprehensive profile of outgoing Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, L.A. Weekly reveals that the former Democratic National Convention chairman has solicited Fox News host Bill O’Reilly for a job. According to the article:

He had fervently hoped, friends and colleagues say, to land an Obama cabinet post as secretary of transportation. But after hamming it up with Charlie Sheen in Cabo San Lucas in January, he was seen in Washington, D.C., as having too much baggage …. Villaraigosa loudly asked O’Reilly for help landing an on-camera job. Villaraigosa said he wanted ‘to speak to [Fox News CEO] Roger Ailes’ about ‘going to work’ at the network.”

At least one Twitter user says Villaraigosa will do anything for a dime during these hard times:

And others suggested that Villaraigosa might have better luck elsewhere:

Possible reason Villaraigosa hasn’t yet received an O’Reilly response to his job request? Villaraigosa didn’t keep it pithy.
