The several dozen illegal immigrants that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent to Martha’s Vineyard were on the island for only about 24 hours before being sent to a Cape Cod military base:

Which is why, yes, there hasn’t been outrage when migrants are taken to NYC or Chicago, etc, because those are places where they can plausibly 1) make their court dates and asylum interviews 2) be connected with friends, family, or community resources.

You would have NO right to complain if you never even bought a ticket and boarded the plane illegally.
It’s been pointed out that the truly compassionate thing to do would be to not allow this to happen in the first place:
