It’s no secret that CNN’s launch of the subscription-based CNN+ was nothing short of one of the biggest disasters in the history of media. However, it’s also clear that some people at CNN haven’t yet reached the “acceptance” level of the stages of grief.
Brian Stelter is now doing post-implosion damage control and obviously would like everybody to believe that CNN+ was anything but a complete and total disaster. What’s even funnier is that he said all this on CNN+ before the plug gets pulled:
Company man Brian Stelter touts that he's talked to people he agrees with who blame Warner Bros. Discovery for the failure of CNN+ and not the fact that the service was trash from the beginning. pic.twitter.com/PEy239Zoi0

Was CNN+ a success or a failure? It’s still too early to tell, according to CNN’s chief media correspondent:
"It's too early to know if this product, if this service was a success or a failure," Stelter desperately tried to rationalize the implosion of CNN+. And he chided the "haters." pic.twitter.com/vCFR3Q7dT4

Really? If what we saw wasn’t a failure we’d hate to see what CNN’s definition of a failure would be.
"Going rogue," Stelter insists CNN+ "is a worthy venture."
And he praises the subscribers they don't have. pic.twitter.com/W1TSqYJx6W— Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) April 22, 2022
What is so ridiculous is that they’re still trying to put any sort of positive spin on this epic implosion.

In what world was “we don’t have a lot of viewers who watch for free so let’s start a separate service that makes people pay for content” a solid business plan?
This is an absolutely amazing clip. the delusion that @brianstelter lives in is quite something to behold. https://t.co/aQEZng57rs

Imagine being a CNN+ subscriber and paying to watch them talk about how CNN+ collapsed.
