Yesterday a jury found Jussie Smollett guilty on five of six counts at the former “Empire” actor’s hate crime hoax trial.
Ever since the time Smollett claimed he was attacked, he stuck to the original story even as the wheels started falling off his claims. Obviously the jury didn’t agree, but CNN’s John Avlon has assigned some of the blame for Smollett’s troubles. This comes with a beverage warning:
"Jussie Smollett’s repetition of a lie did not make it true … It’s a strategy he might as well have learned from Donald Trump: when caught in a lie, double down. Lie more," said @JohnAvlon. https://t.co/7SmYrCpIvb

TDS remains a cornerstone of CNN.
Gotta make the Trump quota for Jeff.

It’s clear that for anybody on CNN, a world without Trump in it is an existence not worth living.

No presidents lied before Trump, apparently. https://t.co/46lTtxs6VC

Apparently not. Oh, wait…
Right. Because there isn’t a single other example of lying again and again until evidence proves the lie… https://t.co/iPhOKOE5TQ pic.twitter.com/hpa3ib8z48

Doubling down on a lie is a #Clinton strategy, and it comes from, "I did not have sex with that woman." #JussieSmollett #JUSSIEGUILTY https://t.co/qKz1xIJDjn
