The reports about the horrors caused by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s nursing home policies are disturbing enough, but put all the sexual harassment claims on top of it and it spells trouble for him. And now there’s another element to the Cuomo story: The Washington Post has reported that Gov. Cuomo prioritized VIPs, including family members, for Covid-19 testing and treatment:
They were known as "specials" or "VIPs." Last year, Gov. Cuomo arranged for his family (including CNN host & brother Chris Cuomo) to get home visits from NY health staffers who administered scarce covid-19 tests and rushed them to lab via state troopers. https://t.co/BY4HgawHx8

Separately, nurses working for the state were dispatched in two-person swabbing teams to test “dozens” of VIPs, some living in penthouses in Manhattan, according to one person with direct knowledge. Those tests were then driven to the Wadsworth lab for expedited processing.

Names of the "VIPs" and "specials" were closely held by an assistant working for state health commissioner Howard Zucker and obscured throughout the expedited testing process, often through the use of numbers or letter initials or even aliases in some cases.

And a tip of the hat to @Brendan_LyonsTU who broke this story earlier tonight: https://t.co/2u5Sw74N7j

Well, if that’s true, there are people who have some explaining to do!
.@brianstelter @oliverdarcy Hey, hi guys. Hey will this be in the newsletter tonight? A cable news host getting preferential treatment from his Governor brother while his network stayed silent on it? Seems kind of media newsy. If not why not? Thanks guys! https://t.co/S7Tbu7IFE6

I must have missed CNN’s coverage of this. Of course @CNN was aware of it, right? @ChrisCuomo informed them of his special treatment from the governor, right? Or maybe he didn’t. Perhaps @brianstelter
will clear it up.Say, has Chris not been doing his show this week? https://t.co/hlkMzXmrUF

@ChrisCuomo you? After your fake quarantine? Need to address this on the air now @brianstelter @cnn

Confidence in CNN being all over this story is LOW.
Oh, what’s a little misappropriation of public resources amongst family? https://t.co/nppRpUl9rd

Hello @NYSenate he needs to be impeached yesterday https://t.co/srUO6mZKaC

For some reason we remain skeptical that Cuomo will be held accountable.
Update:
The Washington Post’s Eric Wemple says CNN’s Chris Cuomo has some explaining to do:
I am happy that Chris Cuomo made a quick and full recovery. But he needs to step forward and detail whatever special treatment he received via his family connection to the NYS government. This is a big story and his own colleagues are competing for it.

Stephen Miller, @RedSteeze, isn’t buying the sudden hyperventilating:
Chris Cuomo was spotted outside without a mask when he stated he was quarantined with COVID. He threatened people in public over this. He and his network staged a "coming out of quarantine" stunt everyone in media knew was false. But sure, *just* now it's a scandal. https://t.co/qn0Y9x5uww
