As we told you over the weekend, “Will & Grace” actors Eric McCormack and Debra Messing made it clear that they wanted the media to help “out” Trump supporters who attend his upcoming Beverly Hills fundraiser:
— Eric McCormack (@EricMcCormack) August 30, 2019
Please print a list of all attendees please. The public has a right to know. https://t.co/YV4UoxrPHI
— Debra Messing (@DebraMessing) August 31, 2019
Messing later tried to spin her comments by saying that Trump supporters should be proud to have their donations publicized. But the “Will & Grace” actors’ tweets were too much for Whoopi Goldberg:

Just how horrible is your idea when THE VIEW disagrees with you? https://t.co/WkTDPmcsA4

And with that, it was time for some spin. Messing shared McCormack’s reaction to the backlash and agreed:

“Misinterpreted” was a nice touch. It also sounded a lot like “we don’t support blacklists, BUT…”
“I absolutely do not support blacklists. I just want a list of people I disapprove of.” https://t.co/z80T6ZM9Ol

That I could share with people who influence and power so the people whose names are on the list never work again.

Other than that, they’re totally opposed to blacklists!
"I'm not doing what I'm very clearly doing." Without that, there's no politics.

Yeah, you don't support blacklists or discrimination, except when you do.
Is there an alternate meaning for this?https://t.co/QKzMlBvoyP
— BayAreaFrau (@bayareahausfrau) September 4, 2019
It's okay, everyone. It was just a search for knowledge. It had nothing to do with blacklisting. Phew! https://t.co/FiwRGFkheq

That was a lot more words to say the exact same thing: #blacklist

Are you two aware of what a blacklist is? Because you pretty much defined it earlier pic.twitter.com/dRG6fSkJmN

He literally does support blacklists.

This is a blacklist. How dumb do you think we are? pic.twitter.com/ehZPyYTjGh

Fascists making excuses for their behavior is nothing new. https://t.co/e7EQi9MrvL

Ironic, considering these are the kinds of people who often refer to Trump as the “fascist.”
