Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke continues to flail in the desperate hope that more people will notice him and increase his fairly dismal polling in the field of Democrats. Today’s swing for the “reel in the base” fences was this response to a question about guns:
A reporter asked Beto in Charlottesville how he’d reassure people afraid the gov’t would take their assault weapons away.
“I want to be really clear that that’s exactly what we are going to do,” he said. If you own an AK-47 or AR-15, “you’ll have to sell them to the government.”

Watching the government hold Americans at gunpoint while handing them money to “buy” their guns seems to be the world O’Rourke dreams of. Fortunately that’s not going to happen:
