With the House Judiciary Committee on the apparent verge of holding Attorney General Bill Barr in contempt of Congress, the Washington Post’s “conservative” writer Jennifer Rubin says it’s time for Dems to step things up a notch:
Pursue crushing civil fines against recalcitrant witnesses, impeach Mnuchin and Barr, seek sanctions to punish lawyers for ethics violations and, yes, if need be, try to lock them up. If Ds get serious, some Rs may recognize the gravity of the situation https://t.co/ODjQSUasaJ

Sometimes Trump’s opponents end up sounding exactly like what they accuse him of being:
This doesn't sound authoritarian at all! https://t.co/C2i6WsbmJQ

Not at all! *Eye roll* But Rubin didn’t always take that tone:

Wow, she must have gotten whiplash from that abrupt one-eighty! Things have changed quickly:
'Lock her up' is the chant of a banana republic https://t.co/B4MlDwaHcC

Unlike Trump, D politicians have not falsely accused a Jewish billionaire (a frequent target of anti-Semites) of paying women to protest and impersonate victims. Unlike Trump, Dems do not lead chants to lock up opponents based on, well, nothing at all. https://t.co/3Wn1jdkxzP

Apparently the “banana republic” status depends on the political affiliation of the party being threatened with jail.
True conservatism is exhausting.
