Is referring to all that’s happened surrounding the overblown, bogus and flat-out rabid reactions to the Covington story the media helped spread like wildfire as “America in 2019” a way to make it a dig at Trump even in the wake of journo malfeasance? CNN’s Brian Stelter shared a letter purportedly from a TV executive that’s supposed to sum it all up:
A TV exec emailed me: "What's more 'America' in 2019 than a viral standoff at the Lincoln Memorial between white teens in MAGA hats and a Native American elder… spurred by misunderstanding, fear, fury, and social media confusion?" https://t.co/2Mkz8dbkr2

Well, that’s ONE way to spin what’s happened. However, it’s actually more evidence of the state of “journalism” in 2019 than “America” in 2019, as Stelter was reminded:
What’s more “Journalism in 2019” than the entire Acela Media getting a story completely wrong because of its collective anti-Trump addiction, and chalking it up to a big “misunderstanding” rather than letting it bring an iota of introspection and humility? https://t.co/46ebRQYImC

A sizable portion of the media will just refuse to acknowledge the point.
This is the take of CNN’s media reporter after CNN and much of the rest of the media irresponsibly ran with a provably false narrative for over a day that fed a bunch of innocent kids to a digital outrage mob. Embarrassing. https://t.co/Uh1AyRE7fB

12+ hours after more complete video showed initial reporting to be false, @brianstelter is still tweeting out the bogus reporting and trying to stoke a story abt Trump & racism. https://t.co/Y3XdZjnikl

Maybe the media f’ing up and sending a social media mob at teens without due diligence to verify the story?

"Can you believe that this fake story we concocted could happen in America?" https://t.co/WmAmhd1Vew

The level of denial is nothing short of amazing, though not incredibly surprising considering the track record.
Answer: the media piling on and making everything worse

The misunderstand was the due to the lack of journalism by cable news.

What's more "America" in 2019 than a manufactured narrative, propagated and fueled by the MSM, and judged by the social media mob? https://t.co/X0EthoQ7V4

"Spurred by misunderstanding"? This was spurred by outlets like your own that took the anti-conservative position, because, of course. https://t.co/3R4XKNkdy6

Decent people are sick to death of these alleged “journalists”. The qualified had better clean up the profession while there’s still something left to salvage. https://t.co/EsY7nQQgOw
