As Twitchy told you earlier, the New York Times newest editorial board member had many old tweets come back to bite her. It seems Sarah Jeong is not a fan of white people:
"Dumba*s f*cking white people!" NYT's newest editorial board member, Sarah Jeong, wanted to "cancel" white people https://t.co/JiBpddPciW

There was plenty of backlash, with the Times being asked if they intend to keep Jeong on the board. Here’s the paper’s statement:

“For a period of time she responded to that harassment by imitating the rhetoric of her harassers.” Er, OK…

Right!? And there are some holes in the Times’ defense of Jeong:
She wasn’t responding to anyone. She’s been making racist remarks as far back as 2014, according to the time-stamped Tweets. I think she fits in perfectly at your paper. https://t.co/xgqUpWaPsi

Also, this goes on from 2013 to 2015 (and that's just what's shown). The statement makes it sound like it was a one off thing.

That’s some kind of statement, NYT! However, BS detectors are exploding everywhere:
Don't worry, the people complaining are doing it in bad faith and already don't subscribe to the NYT.
It's entirely appropriate to ignore them.

This is such a lame excuse. Just admit that you have no problem with her racist remarks and move on. https://t.co/xgqUpWsqjQ

She understands after your review that this type of rhetoric was unacceptable, but she left her tweets up anyway?
At least, until today.

Taken at face value, the NYT is telling you that they knew about the tweets and didn't even ask that she delete them. They wanted this controversy, and the opportunity to tell you they don't care. https://t.co/uwzmQFHsTn

This is much worse for the NYT, and much more amusing for its critics, than if they had just refused to comment. https://t.co/FENwqJsJah
