The shooting at a high school in Santa Fe, Texas left several people dead and many more injured. The pro-gun control crowd almost immediately sprang into action after the terrible news broke, slamming the NRA while also blaming the AR-15 “assault weapon” for the horrible crime:

In Texas you have to be 18 to buy an AR15 and 21 to buy a handgun. The Santa Fe HS shooter had one of each but was only 17.

Er, there are just some problems with that:
Gov. Abbott just announced law enforcement recovered two guns from the Sante Fe shooter. One was a shotgun. The other was a .38 caliber revolver.
