Yesterday, the hashtag #InternationalWomensDay was trended high for a long time. While that was happening, here’s what was going on in Iran:

The woman in Iran who removed her headscarf during the anti-regime protests in that country became one of the more powerful symbols of the pro-freedom movement, and now she’s reportedly receiving “psychological counseling” before going to jail:
It's a moderate 2 year jail sentence. https://t.co/QT6QbAM92k

I’m sure our national women’s groups will be all over the media in outrage! We won’t hold our breath

It's devastating to imagine what she'll be subjected to in there. Past reports of treatment of jailed activists are utterly horrifying.

And the U.N. continues to not only avert its eyes, but go out of its way to give the regime a voice:
2 years in jail for Iranian woman who removed veil to protest forced hijab law. Tehran prosecutor: She "encouraged moral corruption" & "must be seen by a psychiatrist." #Iran sits on the @UN's Women's Rights Commission. Really.#InternationalWomensDay https://t.co/8LxCvGeDCy

Just a few days ago, Ayatollah Khamenei lectured the U.S. about gun control and called America “morally corrupt,” which obviously is his definition of freedom.
