As of midnight the federal government is in shutdown mode, and starting yesterday evening MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough was offering encouragement to the Democrats:
Hey Democrats, don’t blink. #NoDreamNoDeal
— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) January 20, 2018
And the blame, according to Scarborough, is squarely on the GOP and Trump:
Donald Trump’s government shuts down on the first anniversary of his inauguration.
— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) January 20, 2018
This is not Chuck Schumer’s shutdown. This is not Mitch McConnell’s shutdown. This is Donald Trump and Stephen Miller’s shutdown. This is the result of a confused, chaotic White House.
— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) January 20, 2018
The New York Times and Associated Press are among those who disagree with that blame assessment.
Sorry Joe, this is not on President Trump!! Schumer and the Dems care more about illegals than they do our great American people. DACA has no business being in any budget bill!! Americans first Joe. #SchumerShutdown

The rhetoric really has changed too:
This was called "hostage taking" by democrats in 2013.
Wasn't it? https://t.co/aZfrykRYRU
