San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Colin Kaepernick plans to continue to take a knee when the national anthem is played before games, and others have followed suit. NAACP President Cornel William Brooks didn’t think it was inappropriate to put Kaepernick’s name in the same league with a civil rights icon:

“It’s a lofty name, but it’s not a stretch,’’ Cornell William Brooks, president of the NAACP, told USA TODAY Sports of comparing the San Francisco 49ers quarterback to the civil rights activist. “We’ll let history be the judge, how consequential Kaepernick’s action is.”
