Tenacious D announces new album, tour dates

From Rolling Stone:

The mighty Tenacious D is back with a new song and video, “To Be the Best,” the first taste of their upcoming record, The Rize of the Fenix, set to drop May 15th.

The six-minute clip – the song itself is about two-and-a-half minutes – picks up where the D left off: Kyle Gass goes into a self-mutilating tailspin after the poor showing of their film, Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, while Jack Black gets rich and famous and swaps stories about “Scors-ahh-zee” with Val Kilmer. The duo reunites after Gass tries to shoot Black, but Kilmer takes the bullet “for the D. They’re the reason I got in this crazy business.”

With their skills not what they used to be, a straight-out-of-the-Eighties training montage and matching jam ensues, complete with guitar lessons from Dave Grohl and vocal coaching from Josh Groban. The duo also fly on an eagle, because why not?
