Report: Jets interested in Tim Tebow

Now that the Denver Broncos officially have Peyton Manning, they are desperately trying to trade away Tim Tebow. Sources close to the situation say the Miami Dolphins have no interest at all, but the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots and the New York Jets are all somewhat interested.

The Jaguars seem like the obvious fit, but as of Tuesday evening the Jets were making the hardest push for his services.

In January the team hired former Dolphins’ coach Tony Sparano as their offensive coordinator and he has a history of running the wildcat. If the Jets plan to run that scheme in 2012, Tim Tebow would be a perfect fit.

From NBC Sports:

One of Tim Tebow’s most impressive comebacks last season came against the Jets, when he ran for a 20-yard touchdown in the final minute of a 17-13 Broncos victory. Now the Jets are considering the idea that if they can’t beat Tebow, he should join them.

The Jets have discussed trading for Tebow, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. Schefter refers to the Jets acquiring Tebow as a long shot, but it’s at least a possibility.
