I wrote a VIP post about a week ago about a case in the United Kingdom. Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old university student, was stabbed five times by a Sikh man openly carrying an eight-inch ceremonial blade called a kirpan. The case is controversial because the police showed up and handcuffed Nowak as he bled out on the street. "I can't breathe" were reportedly his last words. Vickrum Digwa, 23, had claimed to the police that he'd been racially harassed. Digwa's mother, Kiran Kaur, 53, was later accused of assisting an offender by removing the weapon from the scene and hiding it.
We learned on Thursday that Digwa was convicted of murder.
There is a video where Digwa mocks Henry for several minutes as he is lying and bleeding out. It was played in court.

Digwa is scheduled to be sentenced on June 1, 2026, while his mother will be sentenced on July 17, 2026.
They also showed that Digwa was highly obsessed with weapons, sleeping in a bedroom described as an "arsenal". When police arrived at the scene, Digwa lied to them, claiming he was the sole victim.
This led officers to initially handcuff Henry Nowak while he was heavily bleeding instead of providing immediate first aid, sparking an active investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

They claim he was bleeding internally. The family says the cops laughed at him while he was dying and joked while handcuffing him. That’s why they won’t release the body cam footage.

One report I read said that when Nowak said he'd been stabbed, an officer replied, "I don't think so, mate."

It was a complex situation. There was a young white man who said he'd been stabbed, and there was an Indian man who claimed he was the victim of racial abuse. Hmm, let's handcuff the guy who's been stabbed while we ask the other guy about his traumatic racist experience.
