I always find it funny that the university system is something like 99 percent Democrat and is the breeding ground for poisonous ideas like critical race theory and academic queer theory, not to mention straight-up Marxism. For a system that's so pro-communism, there sure is a lot of inequity. Elizabeth Warren, while posing as a Native American, famously made $429,981 for teaching two classes at Harvard. When I went to graduate school, the deal was that I could get my master's degree while teaching two classes per semester. The stipend was $4,000 a year.
So, technically, I got paid to earn my degree. But the new hotness seems to be free college for everyone, regardless of immigration status. The Democrats Deliver account is on it.
🚨 New Mexico has become the first state to make public universities tuition free for all.

Nearly every state Republican tried to block this change. pic.twitter.com/6RM7MlsRDh
Huh.
🚨 Community college is now free in Massachusetts. pic.twitter.com/9bzw9b6yFk

Do the teachers work for free? Do the janitors clean the buildings for free? Does IT work for free? And finally what is the bill for taxpayers for this thing you call free? https://t.co/BoxvYqp9UU

Obviously, the faculty and the administration aren't donating their time. So this is just another example of "free stuff" from Democrats.
Have fun taxpayers 😂

What are admissions like? If tuition is removed as a burden, are people who are in no way suited for college (thanks to the public school system) all going to sign up?
The more you pay for something, the more you invest in it.

A free education is worth every penny.
One hopes Massachusetts community colleges offer a decent economics course that will explain nothing is free.
— Sara1200 (@SLark1200) April 13, 2026
How so? Has the building been donated? Textbooks, too? Are the teachers, librarians, staff, deans, etc. all volunteering their time. If not, is there some magical billion dollar money fairy you’ve tapped into to pay for this free education?
— DelilahM (@delilahmused) April 12, 2026
It is not free. Just different people are paying for it.

It is literally a wealth transfer from the poor and working class to the rich and upper-middle class.

Congratulations.
Republicans didn't vote for it because they didn't want to pay for it. Those degrees will now be worthless. Congratulations, NM.
— MOMof DataRepublican (@data_republican) April 12, 2026
They will be funded by taxpayers---so that losers can get worthless degrees.

Democrats can't believe that Republicans don't see this as a great investment. Think of all of the gender studies majors we'll have now. If students actually came out of college with useful skills to pay back their "free" education, it might be worth it. But they won't.
I'm old enough to remember when Al Gore was campaigning for president, and one of his issues was that everyone would go to college. But that's stupid … not everyone is supposed to go to college. Not everyone has the aptitude. Many others would rather go into the trades or the military. Democrats all made fun of DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin for being the only senator without a bachelor's degree. "We've got a plumber protecting us," joked Jimmy Kimmel.
As someone said above, your degree is going to be worth what you paid for it.
