Andrea Mitchell asks VP Kamala Harris why Gov. Ron DeSantis doesn't want slavery taught in schools

Back when critical race theory was in the crosshairs thanks to activists like Christopher Rufo, liberals insisted that critical race theory wasn’t taught in public schools, only in law schools. Why should they have a problem with it being banned, then, if it’s not being taught? Well, you just don’t understand what critical race theory is. Rufo knew damn well what it was and made sure parents knew too, but just as people thought the “Don’t Say Gay” bill meant it would be illegal to say the word “gay,” they were also lied to and told that a ban on critical race theory meant a ban on the teaching of slavery and Jim Crow. That was the liberal shorthand: They’re trying to ban the teaching of slavery.

MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell sat down with Vice President Kamala Harris and brought up DeSantis and his desire that slavery not be taught in schools — even though it’s mandated by the state’s board of education.

Slavery aside, “any push to … tell them what they should be teaching … is wrongheaded”? Um, ever heard of a thing called a curriculum? Expectations for certain grade levels? What an idiot.

They really don’t. It’s like the Harry Reid approach to lying about Mitt Romney’s taxes … “It worked, didn’t it?”

So if a teacher doesn’t want to teach about slavery, making them do it would be “wrongheaded,” right?
