Woman pleads guilty to mailing homemade ricin to President Trump

We know that we usually begin each day by covering Rep. Eric Swalwell’s latest tale of the death threats against him and his family, some presented in audio format. (There’s a fear too that removing Swallwell from the Intelligence Committee will endanger his life.)

But today we’re going to do a throwback to 2020, when a woman allegedly mailed an envelope of homemade ricin to then-President Donald Trump as well as to Texas law enforcement officials.

Breaking 911 reports:

A dual citizen of Canada and France pleaded guilty today to sending a threatening letter containing homemade ricin to then-President Donald J. Trump at the White House in September 2020, and eight similar letters, each containing ricin, to Texas State law enforcement officials.

According to court documents, Pascale Cecile Veronique Ferrier, 55, admitted in the plea agreements that she made ricin at her residence in Quebec, Canada, in September 2020.

After mailing the envelopes from Canada, she drove to the Peace Bridge, “where border patrol officials found her in possession of a loaded firearm, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and other weapons.”
