Wasn’t one of President Joe Biden’s accomplishments in 2022 canceling student loans to the tune of some $400 billion? Chief of Staff Ron Klain was awfully proud of how the federal government had put up a loan forgiveness application website that didn’t crash for a whole month, unlike Ticketmaster’s servers when Taylor Swift tickets went on sale. The site did get shut down, though, when the courts determined that, no, the president has no authority to forgive student loans, no matter what Sen. Elizabeth Warren tweets. Even Speaker Nancy Pelosi was caught on video saying he didn’t have the authority.
The Wall Street Journal notes that as they head into 2023, millions of borrowers don’t know if their loans are going to be canceled or not.
Millions of borrowers won’t know for months whether they’ll have to repay loans that the White House has pledged to forgive https://t.co/cdLwNUH6m7

Spoiler alert: Yes, they’ll have to pay back the loans.
They know. They will.

Sorry the President duped you all to buy your vote.

I’ll help. If you borrow money, plan to pay it back regardless.
— Independentthinker (@Ushjeri) December 26, 2022
SCOTUS will strike it down, 100% certainty, but they'll never have to make another actual loan payment so long as Democrats are in office.

Spoiler Alert: you will have to repay those loans.@WSJ doesn’t think you’re adult enough to understand being lied to by your politicians for political gain.

How do they not know? They borrowed. They owe. What am I missing?

You mean the loans the White House doesn’t have the authority to forgive??? #JoeDontKnowJack

Millions of taxpayers won't know for months whether or not they will be forced to pay someone else's debt.

Here's my advice to them:
1. Get a job
2. Save more than you spend
3. Don't chase the latest iPhone
4. Make your own coffee
5. Make most of your own meals
6. Pay off your debt— Skeptical Redneck (@redneckskeptic) December 26, 2022
Student loan forgiveness is about as popular as reparations.

You would think that college graduates would understand how loans work
— Nobody Special (@lakelife1969) December 26, 2022
Total whitewash of the fact that Biden admittedly acted unlawfully in promising to forgive student loan debt in order to buy midterm votes. He is shameless.
— Keyvan Martin (@KeyvanMartin) December 26, 2022
So, millions of deadbeats are uncertain whether they will be able to sponge off taxpayers? Well, here’s some certainty…no, you’ll have to pay your debts.
— Hadley V. Baxendale (@FuldaGAAP) December 26, 2022
You're a financial rag and you're spreading this misinformation that there will ever be loan forgiveness.
Democrats did not suddenly forget how to tax and spend. If they wanted to do this, they know exactly how to do it.
They are lying. Call them out or you are part of the lie.

Just to be safe, these borrowers ought to assume that they will have to pay back their student loans. If Biden’s “plan” were at all legal, their debts would already have been canceled with a flick of his pen.
