As Twitchy reported Tuesday, Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman told Dave Weigel about how he decided when someone convicted of first-degree murder deserved clemency. Fetterman brought up his often-repeated “Morgan Freeman Test” — would you want Morgan Freeman’s character to die in prison in the film, “The Shawshank Redemption”? Of course not. Fetterman seems to base his ideas on criminal justice on movies; most of these first-degree murderers in prison aren’t like Hannibal Lecter, Anthony Hopkins’ character in “The Silence of the Lambs.”
Going by that logic, did people wish “The Silence of the Lambs” ended with Hopkins dying in prison? Of course not. So is Fetterman saying that a cannibal serial murderer should die in prison? What other movies has he seen to inform his policies?
RNC Research has done a great job putting together a video of Fetterman’s philosophy with some of the “Morgan Freemans” facing life in prison.

He has no moral compass. Doesn't understand what he is unleashing on innocent people. And that crime is sky high because of idiocy like his.

Keep murderers in prison.

But there’s this misconception that convicted first-degree murderers are bad people who do violent things, and that’s just not true. They’re all just like Morgan Freeman.
