New York Times: In the ways that count, Rep. Liz Cheney actually won

There’s been a lot of coping on the Left ever since Liz Cheney was sent packing in Tuesday’s primary election by a huge margin. As we reported earlier, a TIME correspondent claimed that “the GOP just borrowed a Soviet skill and disappeared Liz Cheney.” Yes, the Soviet skill of holding a free and fair election. We were even assured that the Republican Party “would never recover” if Cheney lost. So, we guess Cheney being voted out means the end of the GOP.

Frank Bruni has weighed in at the New York Times, claiming that “in the ways that count, Liz Cheney won.” It was a moral victory, he argues, even if it was an electoral blowout.

Seriously, look at this headline:

“The losers on Tuesday night were the Republican Party and the United States.”

She’s already setting her sights on a presidential run in 2024.

So Bruni is sad for the United States because it lost Tuesday night? He doesn’t happen to live in Wyoming, does he?
