We’re not sure what we’re allowed to say or not say about monkeypox. Last month, the CDC issued “safer sex” guidelines for those infected with monkeypox, such as, “Have virtual sex with no in-person contact.” White House Covid Response Coordinator Ashish Jha addressed monkeypox Monday in the White House briefing room and stressed that it’s “really important” not to use this moment “to propagate homophobic or transphobic messaging.” Is that what the science says?
Former Biden White House senior adviser Andy Slavitt seems to disagree with the CDC and says it doesn’t make any sense that reducing sexual activity would reduce the number of monkeypox cases.

But then …
The left: Gay sex is not the cause of monkeypox you bigots.
Also the left: You can only get the monkeypox vaccine if you’ve had gay sex.

The New York City Health Department, which wants the WHO to change the name “monkeypox” due to its “painful and racist history,” is giving monkeypox vaccinations. You’re eligible if you are “a gay, bisexual, or other man who has sex with men and/or are transgender, gender non-conforming, or gender non-binary,” over 18, and have had multiple or anonymous sex partners.
This is worse than if they had just said the offensive thing. Tiptoeing around offense while actually doing the thing you claim you aren't doing in practice is both stigmatizing and further erodes trust in public health. https://t.co/aTTmLKYJci

This reminds me how Dems like Pelosi and health officials all told people to go out and party in Chinatown to fight xenophobia around Covid 19. Next thing we knew 11,000 people were dead and we don't talk about that anymore. https://t.co/0wJv9pkHGb

Say no to stigma. Yes to monkeypox.

This is still one of the craziest things nobody talks about

The narrative doesn’t have to make sense apparently.

I do love that the Left only has 2 responses to a true thing they don’t like:
1. It’s a myth
B. Actually, that’s racist.

@ASlavitt is a fear-mongering clown who should be held accountable for the damage he did in 2020. Instead, he profits from it.

@ASlavitt is a 🤡 who should not be taken seriously. Leftist disinformation and propaganda

Was this all OK to discuss? We all know it’s “really important” not to propagate homophobic and transphobic messaging.
