As Twitchy reported earlier, Shireen Abu Aqleh, a journalist for Al Jazeera, was shot and killed while covering an alleged raid by Israeli troops on the Jenin refugee camp. Palestinian sources blamed Israel for her death, while a video posted to social media from the perspective of the Palestinian terrorists shows them claiming they shot a soldier. Since the reporter was wearing body armor and a helmet, she could easily have been mistaken for one of the Israeli troops in the area.
The White House has sent its condolences:
We are heartbroken to learn of the killing of Palestinian-American journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, and injuries to producer Ali Samoudi, today in the West Bank. We send our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and strongly condemn her killing.
— Jen Psaki (@PressSec) May 11, 2022
The context: @IDF was trying to arrest (not kill) Palestinian terrorists who’ve carried out deadly attacks on civilians in Israel in recent weeks. At least @PressSec didn’t blame Israel directly, since an investigation is ongoing, but the Palestinians bear ultimate responsibility https://t.co/6ncpWkg62R

Jen Psaki didn’t blame Israel directly, but not surprisingly, Rep. Rashida Tlaib did:
When will the world and those who stand by Apartheid Israel that continues to murder, torture and commit war crimes finally say: "Enough"?
Shireen Abu Akleh was murdered by a government that receives unconditional funding by our country with zero accountability. https://t.co/c2yLpM7UC1
— Rashida Tlaib (@RashidaTlaib) May 11, 2022
@POTUS: An American journalist clearly marked with press credentials was murdered. Doing and saying nothing just enables more killings.
Whether you're Palestinian, American, or not, being killed with U.S. funding must stop.

For the record, IDF spokesperson Avi Mayer recently said he’s waiting for the results of the official investigation:
I've seen several videos from Jenin, including at least one apparently showing Palestinian gunfire in the direction of Al Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh.
Since I cannot verify these videos, I will not share them here, and will instead wait for the official investigation.
— Avi Mayer (@AviMayer) May 11, 2022
Tlaib didn’t need a video to know that Israeli soldiers “murdered” Aqleh.
Congresswoman @RashidaTlaib riles up her base with an irresponsible Tweet before any investigation into this tragedy is concluded. What a reckless thing to do, while even the Palestinians are walking back the initial blame on Israel. Will she remove her Tweets and apologize? pic.twitter.com/FqKx5XvFga

There is ZERO evidence that Shireen Abu Akleh was killed by an Israeli bullet. Verify before you vilify. Demand an investigation instead of demonizing Israel.
— Aviva Klompas (@AvivaKlompas) May 11, 2022
You are tweeting an unsubstantiated claim as if it were a fact.
And given that the PA moved so quickly to bury her within just a few hours, they prevented any investigation.

Accusing Jews of murder without any evidence and with intent to paint Jews as uniquely evil is called blood libel. https://t.co/JVu8YDZmvR

It’s never stopped her before.

I just looked this up. It took me two seconds to see that this story is unverified.

We do not know who killed Shireen Abu Akleh. I should expect more from you, but I don’t.

— Matt Bennett (@matt_bennett) May 11, 2022
It is appalling that a journalist was killed. It is also appalling that a member of Congress would level blame like this before any investigation has even begun to determine how this happened.
— David Singer (@ravsinger) May 11, 2022
So you’ve conducted an autopsy, recovered the bullet, identified the bullet, identified the weapon which fired it, matched the bullet with the weapon, and conclusively identified the person who fired the weapon? Even the PA haven’t done that.
— Dr. Peter Kalve FRSA ✡️ 💛💙 (@PeterKalve) May 11, 2022
I agree there should be an investigation. Unfortunately your fellow Palestinians are refusing to cooperate. And there is video which appears to show Palestinians shooting her. The American public deserves greater accountability from its elected officials than you display.
— Bruce Weingart (@bruce_weingart) May 11, 2022
Is it too much to ask that an American representative at least try to have some semblance of truth standards or least make the lies a little less incitement inducing or blood libel tin foil hat sounding? I get you hate us and want us dead. But maybe don’t?
