First, you can tell how “newsy” this piece from VICE News is going to be by the headline, which claims that you can’t say “gay” in Florida public schools. It’s one level to call the Parental Rights in Education bill the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, but it’s another entirely to report that you can’t say the word “gay.” VICE seems to have a bug up its butt about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declaring Nov. 7 Victims of Communism Day.
Today, I established November 7th as Victims of Communism Day to honor those who have suffered under communism and remind people of the destruction communism has caused worldwide, including a death toll exceeding 100 million.
In Florida, we will tell the truth about communism. pic.twitter.com/Ojlao8f46t

Part of the deal is that high school students — not kindergarteners — are required to learn about the atrocities committed by Mao Zedong, Joseph Stalin, Fidel Castro, Vladimir Lenin, Pol Pot, and Nicholas Maduro.
Libs… you don't have to endorse the crimes of communist regimes because @GovRonDeSantis signed legislation to honor the victims of communism. You really don't

But they do.
You can't say gay in Florida schools but Ron DeSantis is mandating teachers talk shit about communism.https://t.co/fSxtR5MmsG

Nice of VICE to put “victims of communism” in scare quotes. We guess that bit of history is still up for interpretation?
Hit your big, raw, throbbing nerve, did he?

Paul Blest writes:
Acknowledging that queer people exist and have human relationships? Bad. Nuanced conversations about America and race in school and the workplace? Also bad. Nearly hour-long nakedly political lessons on the “victims of communism”? Good—and mandatory, if you’re a public school in Florida.
…
“While it’s fashionable in some circles to whitewash the history of communism, Florida will stand for truth and remain as a beachhead for freedom,” said DeSantis, who signed a bill last year eliminating drivers’ liability for hitting protesters with their cars, and in 2019 signed a bill restricting the right of former felony offenders to vote less than a year after voters overwhelmingly approved it as a constitutional amendment.
Dang, they’re still mad that DeSantis freed you from liability if rioters were attacking you in your car. Cope.
Nice to know you support brutal totalitarian regimes that have murdered 10s of millions of people around the world.

We read the whole piece but Blest never even tried to make the case for communism. Trashing it still makes him mad, though.
World history = exactly what schools should be teaching.
— Freedom Recon (@FreedomRecon) May 10, 2022
What? The state is setting the curriculum for its own schools? Sound the alarm!

Just here for the ratio
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) May 10, 2022
"You can't say gay in Florida schools…"
Seven words.
VICE can't even tweet 7 words without lying.
SEVEN
— J.G. Petruna (@jgpetruna) May 10, 2022
Let’s talk about this ratio
— Sean Agnew (@seanagnew) May 10, 2022
So egregious to talk shit about communism when it only killed 100M people in the 20th century. I mean C’MON who cares about those people when communism also oppressed & impoverished everyone who survived with their lives. So unfair to the dictators who thrived under communism.

Sounds like an accurate history lesson to me. 45 minutes is not enough, should be at least a week, probably an entire semester.
— Shmooth Operator (@ShmoothO) May 10, 2022
Just wait until you find out what communist countries have done to gay people
— Caleb Hull (@CalebJHull) May 10, 2022
Well 45 minutes for 100 million dead doesn't seem like such an onerous trade-off, but then again I am not a commie apologist at Vice, so there's that.
— Henry Krinkle (@HenryKrinkle954) May 10, 2022
You gotta hand it to Vice here. It’s impressive to tweet 2 claims and be blatantly wrong about both.
Bravo.

So. Freaking. AWESOME.

Sounds awesome. I approve.
