The best part of this exchange between Gov. Ron DeSantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw and the reporter from the Associated Press is how he signs off: “Don’t really need you anyway.” It’s perfect, because it perfectly mirrors Pushaw’s view of the mainstream media; she doesn’t need them, and she lets them know it. Reporters are always contacting her about her, not the governor, and then giving deadlines for responding — “I’ll be publishing within the hour so respond ASAP,” or I’ll just make stuff up.
This @ap reporter is certainly having a normal one. pic.twitter.com/cQ126OLetQ

“Just don’t put us in a partisan-only category. Criticism is fine. Not a blanket opprobrium. Also, I would say to you, just as someone twice your age with 3 daughters, don’t live your life on social media. It’s ultimately not a happy place. But I do get the job you do as you see it.”
Thanks, Dad.
I’ve had people try that on me. I ask them to show me their articles critical of Democrats. They never have any.

This is unprofessional for @AP … I remember when AP was the gold standard in journalism. Then they went partisan around 2007-2008. @jamestaranto documented its change.

If it had been a male reporter talking like that to a Democratic woman people would call it mansplaining.
— The Rabbit Hole (@TheRabbitHole84) May 9, 2022
He was definitely mansplaining to me

These guys can’t resist patting you on the head with impertinent words of wisdom, can they?
Don’t change, you’re tremendously effective. And it clearly bugs them, which is a bonus.

I think he wants to date you @aoc
— Elon's Musk (@andItoldyaso) May 9, 2022
lol, his text just reads like condescending liberal dad. And the furor of not getting a nice and affirming reply back just sends him over the edge in typical condescending liberal dad fashion.

Yup… I am used to dealing with lib boomers! 😂

Peak nice guy, sends you these long messages, pretends to "care" about you, then tries to demean you
— DickButkus (@DickButkus1776) May 9, 2022
Ah nothing like passive aggressive dad DMs.

I have a feeling this is pretty routine behavior for a journalist.

I think this is the patriarchy we’ve been warned about.

You are dangerously effective on social media killing false narratives and driving a concise message.
I think you should spend less time on social media.— GWardHome (@gwardhome) May 9, 2022

“This little effort of mine is small compared to what my colleagues do in war zones around the world,” he writes, trying to steal some valor.
