As Twitchy reported Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security has set up a “Disinformation Governance Board” and named Nina Jankowicz to head it. Though one of the focuses of the board is Russian disinformation, it didn’t take long for people to find Jankowicz tweeting about the Hunter Biden laptop story — the “laptop from hell,” as she called it — and writing off President Trump’s reaction, instead deferring to all of those former intelligence officials who said it had all the hallmarks of a Russian disinformation campaign.
And just this week she’d tweeted her concerns about “free speech absolutists” taking over social media — she shuddered at the thought.
At Thursday’s press briefing, a reporter asked Psaki about Jankowicz’s tweets about the laptop story, which has since been confirmed by the New York Times and the Washington Post. Psaki, of course, could not speak to the issue of the laptop story, but she certainly couldn’t understand how anyone would be opposed to DHS setting up its own Ministry of Truth.

Would she oppose the effort if Trump takes office in 2024 and gets to appoint the board?

I don’t want to hear a peep when Trump takes office and appoints Giuliani to oversee this board https://t.co/3i9ZSEOVrS

This sounds like a great idea, @jrpsaki. That way, we'll really know what's true and what is "disinformation." https://t.co/4x9N2OpGb2 pic.twitter.com/w2x6cP4XUE

Hey, @PressSec. The problem is, why is the government deciding what is disinformation and what is not?
In a free society, the government doesn't do that. https://t.co/lez5x9gUdp

These people are so incredibly cynical about their focus on making America an absolute dystopia https://t.co/hXBnzRqzS1

We’re frankly amazed that a reporter even brought it up. They all know that the Hunter Biden laptop story is off-limits in the White House Briefing Room. How did Jankowicz even get the job? She sure as hell wasn’t elected.
