Slate isn’t saying there is a deep state. Well, actually, it kind of is, but only if by “deep state” you mean “bureaucrats trying to uphold decency and the rule of law.” Look, they’ve even got Alexander Vindman and Fiona Hill in their photo header. But the whole piece was really inspired by the publishing of former ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch’s memoir, “Lessons from the Edge.” So it’s a book review.
If the “deep state” is simply bureaucrats trying to uphold decency and the rule of law, let’s hope it runs very deep indeed. https://t.co/rikPhg0yWn

So, the deep state is good now, even with President Joe Biden in the White House? No, that’s not exactly what they’re saying. They’re just saying it’s a good thing the deep state was around when Donald Trump was president.

every conspiracy theory has 3 stages of media coverage
>it doesn't exist
>ok it does exist but its no big deal
>not only does it exist, it's good that it does— NotMyRealName In Minecraft (@CalihanJohn) April 15, 2022
So we went from “it doesn’t exist” to “it’s actually a good thing” on the Deep State? Very cool.

Finally we're at the "is good" stage of this one.
— Greatsword Enthusiast (@ryanoleary93) April 15, 2022
I see we're now onto the 'even if it did exist it's actually good' part of the conspiracy flowchart

It’s not happening, and if it is, it’s good.

Unelected people who do what "I" want to kneecap elected people that "I" don't like is good!

Doesn't "rule of law" presuppose "consent of the governed" in our political tradition?

Ah yes "the opposite of democracy is actually a good thing" argument

If they were doing such a good job you wouldn't need to run propaganda for them.

Did the deep state write this?

Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?

Lol this ain't it.

The Trump impeachment proved how valuable these faceless deep-staters were in keeping our democracy running while Trump was in charge, even going behind his back if they needed to.
