It looks like Jussie Smollett’s attacker is back on the streets. Several outlets are reporting that Smollett is out on bail pending an appeal of his faking a hate crime conviction. He had been sent straight to jail upon sentencing, but that didn’t last. He was sentenced to 150 days in prison.

I wonder if this is that white privilege I hear so much about

Hope they give him 300 days after the appeal.

He still contests he didn’t fake it.
This is so wrong.

Tell lies, tell more lies, tell even bigger lie, one of those lies must include that your life is in danger. Don’t apologize, don’t take accountability, insist that protective custody is somehow not good enough for you-because you’re very special. Noted. 🙄

Say what 🙄

so if he loses his appeal will they take him back in? This is so ridiculous. I knew he wasn’t going to serve all 150 days but damn a week.. pic.twitter.com/5lKiVcN5aZ

What a racist system that would allow Jussie Smollett's attacker out of jail early! MAGA country has won again.

😂😂🤣🤣 Clownland. How can the perpetrator of a racist attack be treated so leniently?

Unbelievable! He should have been kissing the judge's ring when he received that sentence. He got off way too easy for what he did. Worthless POG.

The AP reports:
The appeals court, in a 2-1 decision, said Smollett could be released after posting a personal recognizance bond of $150,000, meaning he doesn’t have to put down money but agrees to come to court as required. It was unclear late Wednesday how soon he may be released.

There is plenty of evidence of racial disparity within our justice system. Only a WaPo columnist could possibly pretend that the Jussie Smollett case belongs in that conversation. https://t.co/OGuKFC9o0O pic.twitter.com/gXQncUpqox
