Who is President Biden talking about when he says 'the guy who turned on our lights'? You know the guy

President Biden was in Duluth, Minnesota on Wednesday to talk about infrastructure and somehow moved onto the topic of electric locomotives which were being built in Erie, Pennsylvania — in the same factory where “the guy who turned on our lights” did his magic.

We decided to give Biden the benefit of the doubt and look into it. Back in 2020, you’ll remember, Biden was talking about the American education system and said, “We gotta give people facts.” He continued: “A black man invented the light bulb, not a white guy named Tom Edison.” Even PolitiFact called that claim mostly false. A spokesman said Biden was talking about Lewis Latimer, who worked with Edison, but we can’t find any connection between Latimer and Erie. The plant that builds locomotives is General Electric, whose founding is connected to Edison, the white guy who didn’t invent the lightbulb.
