There was some buzz in the news Monday that President Biden had been in contact with a staffer who tested positive for COVID-19. The two were together on Air Force One on Friday for about a half-hour. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement Monday that Biden had been tested both Sunday and Monday and the results were negative, and that he’d be tested again on Wednesday.
So what is she implying when she says that the president is “asymptomatic”? Doesn’t that mean one has COVID but isn’t showing symptoms?
.@PressSec says Biden is asymptomatic after his close contact last week with a staffer who later tested positive for COVID-19.
"He's asymptomatic. I spent several hours with him this morning and he is feeling great," she said.

But has he tested positive for COVID?

Asymptomatic implies a positive https://t.co/cpQePtSb2k

That uh, isn't a tested negative answer. https://t.co/szXnHmpi3W
— Stephen L. Miller (@redsteeze) December 21, 2021
It actually implies a positive test.

Then this is really irresponsible messaging from the person who’s supposed to be the expert on messaging.

This is a bad tweet. Asymptomatic implies he has COVID but has no symptoms. If he's tested negative for COVID, say that CLEARLY.

What? This is poorly worded.

This makes it sound like he tested positive. Was he potentially spreading COVID throughout his close contacts? Shouldn't you, as a 'journalist' be asking these questions?

Tell us he’s got the rona without telling us he’s got the rona.

Translation: He tested positive but they are monitoring his symptoms closely and dont feel the need to disclose status. Next year we will hear about his positive test result.

I'm not hearing "negative"
— Brad (not Brandon) 👟💯 (@BradHorstkotte) December 21, 2021
I missed the part where “he tested negative “

Other than that nasty coughing all over everyone thing
— Timotay (@TimHansenisu) December 21, 2021
The dude is coughing on TV and sounds awful in his press conference.
So he tested positive for COVID? Or not?
— Cthulhu Loves You (@EyerotGaming) December 21, 2021
That’s not what I just watched. Coughing and sneezing. And coughing into his hand. He is a one-man super spreader
— Cookie Williams (@CookieW60726640) December 21, 2021
To say Brandon is asymptomatic is a bit of a stretch. He was just on the air giving a ridiculously incoherent speech riddled with coughs and gaffes. Didn’t seem asymptomatic.
— jim (@jpsal123) December 21, 2021
Sure seems asymptomatic. Coughing all over that podium. You fools are worthless.

Irresponsibly vague and misleading tweet. Delete it.

She seems to be quoting Psaki exactly, so maybe Psaki should clean up this confusion as soon as possible.
Let's pray for the guy….really.
