American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten was a guest on MSNBC Friday night and the AFT Twitter feed did a live stream of her appearance. It’s a long thread and we’re not going to post it all; the money tweet comes at the end, anyway, where Weingarten says that we need to “repair and nourish” teachers who are tired and exhausted — from what, we don’t know. Certainly not the commute to school.
"Teachers are tired; they are exhausted. We have to find a way to repair and nourish them as well as families in terms of attracting and retaing our teaching force." @rweingarten

Tired? Imagine if they worked.

Tired and exhausted.
You do realize that EVERYONE ELSE ALSO WORKS FOR A LIVING?

Poor teachers. Where I live in Oregon they got vaccinated before 80+ months ago, and many are still not back at school. My kids are getting 2 hours twice a week in person. When it was Zoom it was 2 hours 4 days a week. They must be so exhausted. I hope the teachers are ok.

If teachers are tired and exhausted, I hope that they take the summer off. Same goes for kids.
— Nicholas Tampio (@NTampio) May 21, 2021
Exhausted from what? Doing everything they can to not work?
— Chomp N Skol (@DeJay_Heal) May 22, 2021
It's a lot of work, avoiding work.
— Supergoodpixel (@Supergoodpixel) May 22, 2021
Wonder if grocery workers and nurses who had to go to work this whole time are exhausted? Wonder if they could stay home until they feel like everything is 100% safe? Hmmm.

"Teachers are tired; they are exhausted."
Then let's find all new ones who are willing to work and also not push divisive nonsense on grade schoolers. Everyone wins!

Fire the tired teachers and get new ones.

Doctors, Nurses, PAs, and hospital staff are understandably tired from the long hours and tragedy they needed to deal with regularly.
A Zoom call not working for your teachers is not tiring nor a tragedy.

Tired if sitting a a computer screen? Or exhausted from working the comfort of their home?

If you’re tired, there are plenty of easier professions out there.
— The Alex Nowrasteh (@AlexNowrasteh) May 22, 2021
EVERYONE is tired. EVERYONE is exhausted. They easiest thing to do is open schools in September 2021 exactly like September 2019. You literally wouldn't need to change anything. There's states and countries who have already done this & proven it will work.

It is nothing compared to what the teacher’s unions have put children through.
Damn you people are so lacking in any kind of awareness of the damage you have done.

Parents are tired because aside from doing part of your job they have to do theirs as well. Students are tired of the substandard education they are getting, lack of interactive learning and listening to teachers moan about how tired they are.

As a nurse I would like to kick your “exhausted” asses right back into the classroom. Stop drawing attention to yourselves, we all know how awful you are. Try growing a conscience and shutting up as your summer homework assignment.

i’m sure teachers in our district *are* exhausted, because they’ve been working hard in person since labor day. i’m incredibly grateful for them. our kids have had a great year.

My daughter's English teacher was getting super anxious because now she would have to get up, brush her teeth, get dressed and get to work. She is still not back at school. There is a substitute sitting with kids in the school while the teacher is at home still on Zoom.

Please present the data that shows children have created risk for teachers. A single outbreak in a single school would be enough
— Bac4more (@Bac4more2) May 22, 2021
The public is exhausted by teachers unions, so I can only imagine you exhaust many of the teachers you represent as well. I never thought I could dislike teachers or Oprah, but after this past year, here we are. 🤷

I never see teachers tweeting about the importance of truth, logic, and objectivity. All you people do is cry, complain, bitch, and moan about how tired you are and how you suffer from "trauma."
You're emotionally unstable cry baby frauds.

Teaching via Zoom in your pajamas and taking time off to lecture the rest of us from poolside must have been exhausting

We want to know what the hell this means:
"Well there's two plans: one is for the summer and one is for the fall. In the summer, you have a lot of districts that have used the federal money to do academics in the morning and enrichment in the afternoon and really inject a lot of joy." @rweingarten
