Here’s a story from earlier this week that’s been overshadowed by Black Lives Matter protests over the deaths of Daunte Wright and Adam Toledo. No one died, and no cops were involved; rather, a white Army sergeant first class has been charged with third-degree assault of a black man in a video that’s gone viral. The Associated Press reports that the Department of Justice is looking into the incident involving Jonathan Pentland, 42, of South Carolina.
The Washington Post has picked up on the story:
You know that story in South Carolina about the evil white man confronting the innocent black man in his neighborhood? In the 6th paragraph, The Washington Post says "the young man is accused of earlier assaults." Also tried to kidnap a baby. https://t.co/NRr2eRW6kw pic.twitter.com/wEfyGWjgxi

The man has been arrested, the Justice Dept is investigating, and his home was vandalized. He's been denounced by his commanding officer on Twitter.
They'll happily send you off to Afghanistan, will denounce if you defend your own neighborhood. Imagine joining the military today pic.twitter.com/OmeBRBTBn0

Here are tweets chronicling the events since the incident:

Richland Co. Sheriff threw Jonathan Pentland under the bus today at a press conference, saying "We're not gonna let people be bullies in our community." Yet the BLM mob is still allowed outside Pentland's house. He also thanked the person who filmed the viral video. #FortJackson pic.twitter.com/f66SvmxJt9

It’s pretty clear that the law, the Army, and the Justice Department are coming down hard on Pentland.
