Back in December, President-elect Joe Biden said it was his goal to have schools open within the first 100 days of his administration, telling 31 state governors on a Zoom call, “I know it’s going to be controversial for some of you.” He followed up that call with a tweet:
In the first 100 days of my administration, we will:
– Ask all Americans to mask up
– Administer 100 million vaccine shots
– Get most schools back openWe’re going to contain the virus and get back to our lives.

Even CNN’s Jake Tapper, who’s gotten on our nerves lately, insisted the health experts said to open schools now, not 100 days from Inauguration Day. As you saw yesterday, though, members of the Chicago Teachers Union decided instead of returning to class they’d express their desire to feel safe through interpretive dance.
Biden’s chief of staff, Ron Klain, who was also President Obama’s Ebola czar, was on CNN the other night and said it’s not the teachers’ unions that are keeping schools closed; it was the fact that schools hadn’t made the investments to keep the students safe. As Twitchy reported back in early December, Biden had talked with the heads of the teachers’ unions and agreed that they could reopen elementary schools for $100 billion.
Mini-thread: This is absolutely wild. On CNN, White House chief of staff Ron Klain defends the indefinite closure of schools and teachers unions throwing up roadblocks, lamenting that reopening costs a lot of money, so therefore Congress has to pass the $1.9 trillion plan (1/2) pic.twitter.com/GkEIb5jR1r

You think the Biden WH puts students first? They care more about teachers unions. Here's WH CoS Ron Klain: "I don't think unions are overruling studies. I think what you're seeing is schools that haven't made the investments to keep the students safe." (2/3) pic.twitter.com/7gEVsxI4Wk

And this is what happened right afterwards — CNN's Erin Burnett just moves on. She accepts it as fact, allowing students (like her own kids) to wallow and continue to suffer because, on the left, there's perhaps no greater special interest group that rules them like unions (3/3) pic.twitter.com/sWOPcN2zFg

This is blatantly untrue. Public schools in Florida, Arizona, Texas, etc. are open. Leftist teacher unions in Chicago, New York, California, Virginia, etc are refusing to do their jobs. Now, the Biden White House is falsely justifying their asinine behavior. It is unforgivable. https://t.co/CU30BJx4Rl

We are open in Texas and I even substitute teach for my district. The kids are doing great and I love when I’m there with them!

Correct. My grand nephew in Texas has been back in school since October.

All Ky Catholic schools have been open since August 2020. No issues other than the governor trying to force them to close, which failed

Ron Klain is lying. Weird.

Just think how much easier it is for these folks to lie through their mask instead of their teeth. 🙂

Hey @CNN teachers unions are overruling studies from the CDC

They have had a year to figure this out. The unions keep moving the goalposts. Shame on this administration. It all comes down to political power and the teachers unions is one of the last remaining powerful unions the dems must retain. It’s sick. Remember this in 22, voters.

In Chicago, the city met every single ridiculous demand from the union to return to school, yet they still refuse to go back. Make vague statements about how the city doesn't care for their safety, despite meeting every. single. demand.
Backing unions is a sign of derangement.

If ever in doubt it’s never the union’s fault
